Its been quite a while since I updated this blog and a few things have happened, so here goes...

New Designers was a really exciting week, albeit a tiring one! It was great to meet new people and see their amazing work.  Below are a few snaps:

Busy, busy, busy...

At my degree show I got interest from a beautiful little local art boutique. My British themed printed length was chosen to be exhibited at Yellowstone Art Boutique http://yellowstoneartboutique.co.uk/ located in Trentham gardens. It is owned and run by mother and daughter duo; Hannah and Steph Stoney. The opening night went really well and I was so proud to see my work in a shop!

I did a few prints based on my fabric which are on sale in the shop:

Fancy a Brew?

I was packing away a few things and thought I might share this:

Teapot Proposal

This is the proposal I submitted to apply to go to New Designers. The teapot, I bought from a ceramics sale shop and I painted a patterns and a poem onto it using ceramic paints. It was a fun little project, I think I might paint a few more pieces of whiteware...

The Grand Opening Night

Our degree show; the opening night was buzzing; lots of people came for the preview. The atmosphere was brilliant! It was so good to see everyone together and to be able to look around at all the work.

End bits

This snap was taken where my screen went off the fabric and I printed on the table, printing onto black fabric is not something I would ever have considered for my design, I do quite like this though.

At long last the Final Length...

This was my first final printed length, I printed onto a biscuit brown fabric. The length was printed using nine colours; I mixed a little opaque white into each one to make them stand out against the brown of the fabric.

I have to say I was quite pleased with it despite all the setbacks (and stress!) it worked out fairly well.

Colour testing...

This was just a little color testing, using emulsions on parcel paper. I wanted to get a feel for working in colour as all my drawings were black and white.

Adventures in the Unlikeliest of Places

A man in a novelty Union Jack Suit. Quite a funny image.
I thought I would start by taking you through my project 'Adventures in the Unlikeliest of Places.' With the Royal wedding, the Queens' upcoming Jubilee and Olympics,I based it on the theme of London. It started with a fun inspiration filled trip to London.
My board in the studio filled with snaps from London as well as other bits and bobs I collected during my trip:
